Richard Roberts is getting a severance package.

This Associated Press article by Justin Juozapavicius quotes former ORU regent Harry McNevin:

“It sends the message that it’s more about money than winning souls.”

I’m not sure what kind of message it sends; because, frankly, I’m just not sure what is typical under these circumstances.  But then again, these aren’t typical circumstances.

Should a resigning university president get a severance package?  Probably.  Should a university president, resigning amidst a cloud of litigation, get a severance package?  Idunno.

Robert’s lawyer, Frank M Hagedorn, implies that Richard may have been promised one.

  1. Amy Renzulli says:

Wow, this really bothers me. After the university was so closed with the accountant’s evaluation, it would seem that they have reasons for not wanting to make it public (a verbal presentation with no papers or documentation – REALLY!). Giving Richard Roberts a severance package seems really inappropriate at this juncture.

  2. Deacon says:

Usher; Hey Deak, thee people seem mildly upset? What’s with that?

Deacon: I think they still think that the prosperity doctrine is where it’s at.

Usher: You think they’ll just keep going back and funding the next Richard?

Deacon: Probably. Most do. We’ll hear about the next Richard down the road. Or not.
