I am White

February 27, 2008

This blog, “Stuff White People Like” is apparently all the rage, because of it’s ironic nature, and the apparent popularity of being ironically white.  Which I’m told white people like – by the blog, that is.  Confusing cycle of ironic self-agrandizement, roll on.

DISNEY

February 25, 2008

On Saturday, Ryan had a hankering for Disneyland. We had a bit of work to do with the business plan for DC, but we zipped through it (accurately and with attention-to-detail) and then headed south to Anaheim! Read the rest of this entry »

MOVING CONFIDENTLY FORWARD…

February 16, 2008

I’ve got my new Voice Animation Demo Reel up on my Voices.com profile!

Thanks to Ryan who mastered it for me today. Pretty soon I ‘ll be burnin’ a bunch of CDs with which to litter the mail. Voice Talent Agents, here I come…

P.S. I just added an updated version of my Commercial Demo.  I’ll be adding a video of a commercial spot I recorded the voice for very soon.

Triple-Digit Interest Rates

February 16, 2008

No Comment.  I don’t know what to think.

WHAT ON EARTH!? U2-3D?

February 15, 2008

A movie opens today that should have all U2 fans who didn’t get to see the Vertigo Tour really excited.  It is U2-3D and it’s now playing at a theater near you!

Can you believe it?  A 3D movie of a live concert.  I wonder which city?  Perhaps several.  I was at the Vancouver concert in 2005.  It really was amazing.  In fact, I think I might just consider going to the 3D movie just to re-live the experience.  I guess that’s what they’re banking on.  Weird.

ORU LAWSUIT: updates…

February 14, 2008

ORU moves to trim its debt – I like this move.  As an alum, I feel good about it.

Attorney asks for end to gag order in Oral Roberts case – who’s rights are most important?  Free speech or fair trial?

Both are Tulsa World articles.

NEW MOVIES I WANT TO SEE…

February 11, 2008

In Brudges – Here’s a quote from a screenwriter who recently saw the film: “It is completely apocalyptic and brilliant. It felt a bit didactic, but … this film is a medieval painting come to life…

Smart People – In my opinion, it’s the smart people over at Miramax that are making really good decisions in the films they’re picking.

Stop-Loss

Baby Mama – I’m not sure what to think about this. It’s funny.

Bonneville – I should be too young to “get” this movie… But even the trailer made me tear up.

Meet the Browns – Tyler Perry gets it. Life is complicated.

He Was A Quiet Man – is that…? It is! Christian Slater?!

ORU LAWSUIT: WOW…

February 9, 2008

Apparently, 1 billion dollars was allegedly funneled thru ORU inappropriately on an annual basis. That’s billion. With a B.

In other – also very interesting – news…

ORU has asked for a dismissal of the lawsuit.

WGA STRIKE: NIKKI SAID SO…

February 8, 2008

If you can’t trust Nikki Finke, who can you trust?

UPDATE: If you haven’t been following things on Deadline Hollywood Daily or United Hollywood, things are looking good for the writers to return to work by Wednesday (if they want to) and for the new deal to be accepted within the next 10 days.

So… the Oscars will be going ahead as scheduled!!

HEADSHOTS

February 6, 2008

I shot a friend’s headshots last week. It was super fun!

Because of the time I spent at Bicoastal Talent & Literary Agency, I’ve got an idea of what theatrical and commercial agents are looking for. So I was able to combine that with my photography and the camera that I’m trying out (a Nikon D70 – thanks Terry!) in order to capture four different looks!

13.1 MILES

February 3, 2008

5:30 AM – Today’s the day I run a half-marathon. I’m up early to go join my carpool down to Huntington Beach! An update will be forthcoming upon my completion of the race and return to Hollywood!

2:30 PM – Did it! Proud, tired, and sore; but again oh so proud. We’re quickly (as quickly as I am able to move) getting ready to go out again to a Superbowl Party. A “real” update on the race will come later tonight or tomorrow. Pictures included!

5:30 PM – Well, 5:30 PM two days later… Yup! I’ve finally got photos up and I’ve recovered enough to talk about my experience.

HE’S ON THE MOVE!

February 1, 2008

Griffin House.

Is it a name?  A location?  Or just a really great excuse to get out of your apartment?

MY HOLLYWOOD DAY

February 1, 2008

Yesterday was a very Hollywood Day for me.

In the morning I worked four hours at my part-time job at a burgeoning Hollywood production company.   I have the quintessential entry-level position as the Assistant to the International Business Coordinator.  I do office management, accounting, and general administration.  It’s fun, a nice environment, and the people are very cool!

Then in the afternoon I took headshots for a recent immigrant to Hollywood, a friend of mine who just escaped (legally) from the airforce!  He’s here in Hollywood to get his start in the biz and hopefully the headshots I took will help!

Then after that, I had a meeting with the co-producers of an independent feature that my husband and I are working on.  Dinner meeting.  At the Alcove.  Very Hollywood.

Finally, late in the evening, I found myself back at the Act One offices, where I completed a rigorous three-month Executive Training program, for their Info Night for the next round of applicants.  I was on the Alumni Panel, talking about my experience and answering questions.  If was fun!

So that’s my Hollywood day…

Novel.

ORU LAWSUIT:

February 1, 2008

Here’s some updates from the land of windy plains:

1. Green’s green promise made good.  Mart Green handed the money over in Chapel!

2. Finally, an update about the lawsuit!

3. And to conclude: one of the best updates on the state of the university that I’ve seen yet

Cornell?  How are you feeling about it all?
